Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards. Present financial reports to the executive team and board of directors, providing insights into financial performance and trends.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with program managers to develop and monitor annual budgets. Forecast revenue and expenses, identifying areas for cost savings and revenue generation to support organizational goals.

Financial Compliance: Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as grant requirements and donor restrictions. Implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Audit and Tax Preparation: Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax preparers. Coordinate the annual audit process, provide supporting documentation, and address audit findings in a timely manner.

Staff Management: Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to enhance staff development and productivity.

Systems Improvement: Continuously evaluate accounting systems, processes, and policies to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of financial reporting.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and grant accounting principles.

Experience with fund accounting software and ERP systems; knowledge of QuickBooks or Sage highly desirable.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Ability to communicate financial information effectively to diverse stakeholders, including non-financial staff and board members.

Proven leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
