General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. This position is responsible for ensuring company compliance with Aviation Safety requirements as dictated by DoD, Service, or contract statement of work. Continuously reviews the implementation of the Aviation Safety Management System (SMS), monitors status of the project(s) to ensure project(s) are completed to industry standards. Assesses project issues and develops solutions to meet production, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Aviation Safety Program Manager in oversight and management of the company Aviation Safety Management System (SMS).
Develop and implement aviation safety policies and procedures.
Draft and process DCMA 8210 waivers to ensure GA-ASI sites are compliant for operations.
Conduct Safety Audits of aircraft and facilities, review results with customer, and provide guidance on areas to improve to meet or exceed industry standards.
Investigate problem areas, including aviation safety occurrences, and interface with various engineering, operations, maintenance, and supply personnel to evaluate scope and risk of an issue, gain acceptance of potential recommendations, facilitate customer adoption, and track and status to full issue resolution.
Identify and assess aviation safety issues and assist in developing solutions to meet safety goals and objectives, while maintaining productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Draft and publish aviation safety memos outlining an issue and its potential solution using root cause analysis.
Maintain a working knowledge and oversight of all Government Flight Representative (GFR) approved ground and flight operations procedures.
Maintain a working knowledge of all DoD, FAA, and ICAO regulations affecting GA-ASI ground and flight operations.
Collect and provide corporate inputs to Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) regulators for issues affecting company operations.
Coordinate cross functional teams to ensure solutions meet company and customer objectives.
May participate in or lead presentations to customers and executive management on the Aviation Safety aspects of an issue, the proposed solution, and the status of implementation.

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business management, or related discipline and 5 or more years of progressively complex experience in the project management or project administration field with at least 3 of those years in project management. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must be familiar with general principles of Aviation Safety or SMS.
Must possess the ability to initiate, plan and manage projects.
The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a wide range of complex issues.
Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must have the ability to interpret and understand regulations; apply that understanding to a diverse and dynamic organization and predict and correct problem areas before operations are affected.
Experience with aircraft and related military systems is highly desired: Hands-on experience in aircraft flight and ground operations, and /or specifically, experience in operations and/or maintenance of UAV operational or aircraft systems, such as avionics, mechanical/engines, electrical/electronics, RF, EO/IR, and weapons systems.
Experience conducting Aviation Safety or Quality Assurance audits is desired.
Familiarity with DCMA Instruction 8210 and ground and flight operations conducted with DCMA oversight is desired.
Has the ability to work within the system to achieve results despite institutional challenges. A creative problem solver, who understands Root Cause Analysis, that can bridge the gap between design and use.
Ability to travel overseas (Passport required).
