Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy RevolutionBecome a Substation Engineer 2 , at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be developing engineering scope for substation projects, distribution system upgrades. You will also be responsible for providing technical mentorship to planning and operations personnel, perform generation interconnection studies, and provide customer support. Engineering and Design of substation electrical facilities while acting as the Responsible Engineer for all voltage levels (up to 500kV) substation, substation and Interconnection projects, including resolving technical issues associated with substation design.

Develops preliminary scope of work and conduct pre-engineering job walk meetings with partners.

Publish pre-engineering job walk minutes and issues design specs.

Manages various engineering contractors and work with them to ensure consistency and quality of design.

QualificationsThe Essentials

Two or more years of electrical engineering experience.

One or more years of electric utility industry engineering experience.

Bachelor’s Degree or higher level of education in Electrical Engineering or in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field.

The preferred

Two or more years of engineering experience in substation and design.

General knowledge and experience with guides, standards, codes, and methods to perform complex assignments.

Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in State of California.

Proficient with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Substation Design Suite.

You should know …

This position’s work mode is hybrid .  The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Position will require up to 20% traveling and being out in the field throughout the assigned region.

This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
