We’re currently looking for a knowledgeable Network Engineer to support and maintain secure, high-performance IT networks in a professional environment serving government personnel. This position involves hands-on troubleshooting, network maintenance, end-user support, and helping ensure critical systems run reliably and securely. Ideal candidate will thrive on supporting and improving existing systems, resolving complex technical issues, and working professionally with end-users and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, maintain, and support LANs, WANs, VPNs, and wireless networks.
Monitor network performance and respond to issues quickly and effectively.
Troubleshoot outages, performance issues, and connectivity problems.
Manage firewalls, VPN configurations, and other security tools in compliance with best practices.
Provide day-to-day technical support for end-user systems (Windows PCs, Macs, Microsoft 365, ERP platforms, etc.).
Occasionally assist government employees with home setup support when required.
Offer technical guidance and training to staff and internal teams.
Maintain clear documentation of network settings, procedures, and configurations.
Be available for emergency support situations when needed (after-hours availability may be required).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Demonstrated experience in a Network Engineer or similar IT support role.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF.
Proficient with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
Comfortable supporting Windows and macOS systems, along with common business software.
Familiarity with network diagnostic and monitoring tools (such as ConnectWise or similar).
Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
Professional demeanor and ability to work respectfully with government employees and staff.
Strong troubleshooting skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
Effective communicator and team player.
Flexibility to respond to urgent technical issues after hours, if necessary.
