West Coast Arborists, Inc. (WCA) was established in 1972. A union and family-owned company is providing professional tree maintenance and management services for over 330 municipalities and public agencies throughout California and Arizona.

NOW Hiring for an entry level Mechanic Assistant to work in Anaheim. This is an apprentice position.

As a mechanic assistant performs and assists in the maintenance and repairs to all company vehicles and equipment, including parts and inventory as directed. Candidate is willing to learn the trade and take direction from experienced mechanics.

WORK HOURS

Typically, 6:00a.m. to 4:00p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional overtime hours and Saturday schedules may be required.

SALARY RANGE

Hourly wage is $22.75 up to $26.83 per hour, DOE. + Fringe Benefits $8.63

Total compensation up to $35.46.

Overtime rate is one- and one-half times regular pay after 8 hours per day.

Payroll is paid weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma

· Read, speak and write English

· Must be physically fit & pass pre-employment physical & drug test

· A valid CA Driver’s License-required

· Must pass company driving test

· Ability to work in adverse conditions

· Reliable transportation

· Professional and/or vocational schooling or equivalent (as determined by WCA) related in mechanic areas

· Expertise in fleet maintenance

REGULAR JOB DUTIES

· Assist lead mechanics in repairing vehicles and equipment as directed, both at

company facility and in field

· Performs auto body repairs as directed by Shop Manager and/or Shop Supervisor

· Determining priorities, show enthusiasm while working accurately, concentrating

Amid distractions, remembering details, making decisions, working rapidly but safely,

work well with others, work well alone and working under pressure

· Perform other tasks and duties as requested

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES RECOMMENDED

· Valid CA Driver’s License-required

· Valid Class B License-a plus

· Mechanic Certification-a plus

JOB CLASS

Class IV: Heavy physical stress on back. Outside craftsman, involves frequent lifting (heavy) over 50 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, working above ground or on irregular surfaces.

Shop Foreman and Shop Manager taking direction from the Vice President of Fleet and other Management Team members when necessary.
