Blithe Defense is seeking a dependable and experienced Hot Air Fabric Welder to join our shop team. This role involves operating hot air welding machines—specifically Weldmaster equipment—to assemble durable, high-performance fabric products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Responsibilities:
Weld and assemble large-scale industrial covers based on patterns and technical drawings.
Perform consistent, high-quality welds with attention to straightness, strength, and durability.
Interpret and work from job specifications, blueprints, or measurements.
Conduct quality inspections of welded seams and overall product integrity.
Assist with setup, calibration, and light maintenance of welding equipment.
Collaborate with sewing, cutting, and assembly teams to support overall production flow.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious work environment.
Important Note:
This is not a complete list of duties. At Blithe Defense, we operate as a tight-knit team, and everyone wears many hats. While your core role will be welding, this full-time position is best suited for someone who is comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where wearing multiple hats is part of the job. Adaptability and a positive team attitude are essential.
Requirements:
3+ years of hands-on experience operating hot air welding machines, especially Weldmaster.
Strong working knowledge of welding heavy-duty vinyl, PVC, and other industrial fabrics.
Ability to handle large fabric panels, lift up to 50 lbs, and be on your feet for extended periods.
Skilled at reading and following patterns, templates, and job specs.
Excellent attention to detail, craftsmanship, and consistency.
Must speak, read, and write English fluently (bilingual a plus).
Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Nice to have:
Experience with industrial sewing machines (e.g., straight stitch, double needle, box stitch and walking foot).
Familiarity with fabric layout, cutting tables, or fabrication equipment.
Background in aerospace, marine, tarpaulin, or inflatable industries.
Able to use Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.).
Able to navigate and use Monday.com.
Experience/Education/Licenses/Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Basic understanding of industrial textile manufacturing (preferred)
Basic computer skills (preferred)
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour - To be determined by experience.
