Vacancy caducado!

Do you want to continue working remotely and making a difference utilizing your superb legal skills?

Do you want to help business owners to regain their dignity and help recover their losses caused by their toxic relationship with their business partners?

If you answered yes to the above questions, you may have found the opportunity.

We're seeking a seasoned business law attorney to join our team at Focus Law as a contractor. The ideal candidate must demonstrate proven expertise in both devising effective legal strategies and independently managing cases from initiation to conclusion. This role particularly requires experience in business litigation and transaction.

Successful applicants must have a track record of embodying the role of a tenacious, passionate advocate for their clients, guiding them from the beginning to the end of their cases. As a firm that values both client success and a healthy work culture, we're looking for a professional who combines a competitive spirit in litigation with a collaborative, respectful, and collegial demeanor when interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and our team.

You will need to meet us halfway. We will provide the flexibility of working remotely, but you will need to produce 15-20 solid billable hours of work a week in the following areas:

- Working closely with the principal attorney and clients (in writing, in person, and by telephone) to ascertain and modify client goals, collect evidence, answer questions about law, facts, procedures and case status;

- Guide clients through the litigation process;

- Conduct legal research and develop strategies;

- Draft status reports, discovery plans, client letters, opinion letters, demand letters, settlement proposals, petitions, declarations, motions, and settlement and trial briefs;

- Conduct and defend depositions (of parties, third party witnesses, and experts);

- Propound and respond to form and special interrogatories, requests for documents, and requests for admission;

- Subpoena records from third parties and witnesses to appear at trial;

- Summarize discovery;

- Make court appearances;

- Participate in settlement conferences, presenting evidence, advising clients on the strengths and weaknesses of their cases, and analyzing probable outcomes; and

- Handle bench trials (when ready).

Please email your resume or CV for consideration. This is an "attorney only" position. Please do not apply if you're not a current California attorney in good standing with the California Bar.

Thank you for your time and consideration. If you believe you're the right candidate for this position, then we look forward to hearing from you.
