Position Summary:

Works with Engineering staff to test, maintain, or calibrate pump (and/or) turbo expander product designs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical demands required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinates and participates in installing the unit or system to be tested in test fixtures, connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments.

Performs instrument calibrations and functional checks, including pressure gauges, transmitters, and switches, temperature indicators, transmitters and switches, tachometers, and vibration measurement assemblies.

Activates controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power and

subject test item to successive steps inthe test cycle.

Monitors, controls and instruments, and records test data for the engineer's use.

Provides maintenance of test equipment and may recommend changes in test methods or equipment for engineering review.

Participates in conversations with engineering personnel to resolve problems relating to specifications and to review test plans, such as types and cycles of tests, conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and duration of tests.

Wears PPE: safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and O2 deficiency monitor during cryogenic tests.

Other tasks as assigned.

Education:

High School diploma, Associate’s Degree or vocational training in electro-mechanical technology or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience whereby requisite knowledge, skills and abilities have been demonstrated.

Experience:

Two years of experience testing high-speed machinery such as turbines, turbo expanders, compressors, turbo chargers, pumps, or rotating machinery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the practical application of electro-mechanical engineering technology, including applying principles, techniques, and procedures to test of product designs.

Knowledge of mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics) and their applications to the testing of machinery.

Verbal communication skills: speaks clearly and persuasively to convey information effectively; actively listens to understand, asks questions as appropriate, and responds well to questions.

Written communication skills: writes clearly and informatively, and presents numerical data effectively.

Organizational skills: Manages and completes tasks on time, plans, prioritizes, and organizes work to meet deadlines with excellent follow-through and attention to detail.

Interpersonal skills: Maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships and interdepartmental group commitments to effectively achieve production goals and objectives.

Analytical skills: gathers and analyze information and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office and National Instruments LabVIEW \ software.

Ability to use tools and equipment such as gauges and meters.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, work independently, be detail-oriented, and thorough.

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
