Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Commercial Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and sanitation at a DMV field office in Santa Ana, CA and in Simi Valley, CA. This position is responsible for performing daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks as outlined in the facility’s maintenance requirements, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors.
The ideal candidate will follow a structured maintenance log, meet DMV cleaning standards, and take pride in delivering consistent, high-quality service.
Schedule & Pay
Hours: 1.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday
Work Window: Between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (exact schedule to be determined)
Hourly Rate: $33.92 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Log
Maintain and complete the weekly maintenance log (Exhibit G) for daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual tasks.
Ensure the log is kept at the DMV location and is updated each service day.
Initial and date each completed task.
Review logs with the DMV Project Manager or designee to address and correct service deficiencies.
Cleaning & Disinfecting
Clean surfaces using appropriate cleaners for each surface type/finish.
Disinfect all cleaned surfaces (porous and non-porous) using approved antiviral disinfectants.
Follow disinfectant label instructions and allow proper air-dry time.
Minimize exposure to harmful chemicals while ensuring thorough sanitization.
Daily Tasks
High-Touch Surfaces
Clean and disinfect frequently touched areas (e.g., doorknobs, push plates, handrails, light switches, elevator buttons, faucets, restroom fixtures, breakroom handles, and appliance handles).
Restrooms
Clean and disinfect fixtures, handles, and dispensers.
Restock supplies as needed.
Empty and disinfect waste/trash receptacles; replace liners.
Rooms & Break Areas
Use designated cleaning tools for non-restroom areas to avoid cross-contamination.
Clean and disinfect tables, countertops, sinks, and appliance handles.
Remove and dispose of empty boxes (unless marked for recycling or saving).
Outside Entrances
Empty and clean trash receptacles.
Replace liners and clean cigarette/cigar receptacles; replenish sand as needed.
Floors
Sweep or damp mop visible debris from all floor types (carpet, tile, LVT, polished concrete, terrazzo, etc.).
Spot clean carpet upon request.
Miscellaneous Daily Tasks
Report hazardous conditions, fires, or repair needs to the DMV Project Manager.
Clean and sanitize all cleaning tools (mops, microfiber towels, mop buckets).
Keep janitor closet organized and electrical panels unobstructed.
As-Needed Tasks
Notify DMV Project Manager when cleaning supplies are low.
Qualifications
Previous commercial cleaning or janitorial experience preferred.
Knowledge of proper cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitation procedures.
Ability to follow safety guidelines and product usage instructions.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and follow a set schedule.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 30 lbs. for extended periods.
Capability to perform cleaning duties in various weather conditions.
