Positions: Experienced Dishwashers/Line Cooks/Prep Cooks (PT or FT available)

Location: 10836 Warner Ave, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 (NEP CAFE)

Pay Rate: $16.50-$21+tips (Depending on Experience)

Dishwasher Roles and Responsibilities:

Operate the industrial dishwasher

Wash glassware and other implements by hand when necessary

Empty and clean all trash receptacles

Rotate dishes to reduce wear and tear on resources

Clean dish storage

Follow sanitation policies at all times

Provide assistance to prep cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times

Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately

Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to the appropriate party

Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas

Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately

Set up workstations before meal prep begins

Ensure there are always enough clean dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours.

Notify the supervisor when small wares are getting low.

Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents) and place orders when necessary (with supervisor’s approval)

Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/ performance issues

Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor, occasionally restroom deep cleaning

Perform opening, closing and side work

Perform any additional tasks as assigned by Managers

Prep Cook Responsibilities:

Follow the prep list / recipe packets created by chefs to plan duties

Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible

Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking exactly as directed

Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat/ seafood etc.

Undertake basic cooking duties such as making broth, braising meat etc.

Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.

Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.

Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines

Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Line Cook Roles and Responsibilities:

Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.

Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served.

Know and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.

Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.

Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, freezers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.

Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, seasoning and/or marinating.

Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.

Handle, store and rotate all products properly.

Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.

Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for the kitchen. Assists others in closing the kitchen.

Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager- on-duty and any additional tasks that are asked to perform.

Job Requirements:

Food Handlers Card training hours provided (if needed)

1year experience in similar capacity

Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds

Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time

Flexible/Adaptable schedule. Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Ability to work in a hot, humid environment

Attention to detail and sanitation rules

Lift up to 50 lbs

Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed

Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings

Must be Authorize to Work in the USA
