Zebra House is looking for a full-time barista and cafe server with a flexible weekday and weekend schedule. We need somebody with availability to work at least 4 shifts per week, including Sundays and afternoons/evenings. 21 years of age for beer/wine service required.
About Zebra House:
We are a family-owned cafe/drive-thru coffee shop with a team that is passionate about our scratch kitchen, craft coffee and the community of San Clemente. We have a drive-thru so we have two registers going all day long.
Our current hours are 6-5pm every day, going to 6-6pm for summer, and up until 8pm for music and events beginning with Thursday-Saturdays.
About the position:
A server/barista at Zebra House is responsible for creating an enjoyable, memorable customer experience from the moment someone walks in the door (or approaches the drive-thru) through the last drop in their cup or crumb of their sandwich. Passion for coffee, tea, yummy food, local brews and making people smile is mission-critical. Must have a cheerful, outgoing personality, with a cooperative attitude and willingness to work well with the rest of the Zebra House crew - especially under pressure. No egos please
While this position requires no previous barista or restaurant experience, it is highly preferred. Register experience is also helpful.
Skills required (post-training, as needed):
You can properly and consistently make coffee, espresso based drinks, smoothies, and other non-coffee drinks in accordance with Zebra House recipes, and are familiar with our coffee and tea varieties
You can responsibly serve beer and wine to our customers in accordance with ABC laws (Responsible Beverage Service certification will be required at start of position)
You can properly work with our equipment, including a semi-automatic professional espresso machine, grinders, coffee brewers, blenders, and if applicable, our cooking/baking equipment
You are conscientious of food and drink display cases, ensuring proper stocking of all and appealing display of baked and packaged goods
You have an awareness of your surroundings to keep tables clean, dish bins empty and dust/clean as needed to keep the environment tip-top for customers at all times
You can prepare breakfast and lunch food items to Zebra House standards on a consistent basis (if applicable to your position)
You follow proper food safety requirements (you will be required to have your California Food Handlers Cert on your first day)
You can efficiently operate our point-of-sale system, and can count and provide correct change for cash paying customers

Work may include any shift, any day of the week, with schedules created the week prior. You must be comfortable opening and closing, and will have additional responsibilities to stock merch and clean the restaurant. We are a small business and require that all employees share duties and are willing to learn new skills and perform other duties as requested by the on-shift leads/managers.
