Position details:
Kiwoom Academy, a well-established institution located in the heart of Koreatown, is currently seeking a dedicated part-time private math tutor. The successful candidate will provide tailored tutoring services to an elementary/middle school student with autism spectrum disorder. This role requires commitment for months, conducting in-person lessons twice a week.
Qualified applicants should meet the following criteria:
Educational Requirements: Applicants should hold an Early Childhood Education certificate, Special Education-related certificate, or a bachelor’s degree is highly desirable. We also welcome candidates who are actively pursuing a degree.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working with special needs children, specifically those with autism or developmental disabilities, or high school-aged youth is required. This experience should illustrate your ability to adapt to varying educational needs and demonstrate a deep understanding of the unique challenges and rewards of working with this population.
Position expectations:
Positive Reinforcement: The successful application will implement positive-reinforcement strategies that maximize learning outcomes. This involves cultivating a cheerful and authentic learning atmosphere that motivates the child to engage in and enjoy the learning process.
Academic Goal Setting: Part of the role involves setting clear, achievable academic goals for the child. These goals will provide a roadmap for the tutoring sessions and a measure of the child's progress.
Home-Based Lessons: In instances where lessons are conducted at home, the tutor should be able to comfortably utilize available educational tools (such as toys, books, etc.) to create an effective learning environment.
Punctuality: Punctuality is a quality we deeply appreciate. We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we are willing to accommodate occasional changes. However, we firmly believe that a consistent schedule forms the cornerstone of effective learning. We want to make these tutoring sessions a vital part of our students' daily routine
Compensation:
The successful candidate will receive an hourly rate of $45.00, reflecting the importance and responsibility of this role.
