Some parents who have received a court order detailing the parameters of visitation with their children are required to have a professional third party to supervise the visits. These visits usually take place on the weekends (Sat/Sun) or afternoons (3pm-6pm) when children are out of school. They can take place at parks or fun recreation activity spots like Chuck E. Cheese.
Your supervisor will do all the work in guiding you toward these steps.
Job Overview
The Monitor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and individuals with disabilities in various settings. This position requires a compassionate and skilled individual who can effectively manage conflicts, intervene in crises, and provide support to those in need. The Monitor will work closely with children, families, and other professionals to promote a safe and nurturing environment.
Duties
Supervise and monitor the activities of children or individuals with disabilities to ensure their safety and well-being.
Implement crisis intervention strategies when necessary to de-escalate challenging situations.
Provide support and guidance to children, helping them navigate social interactions and conflicts.
Collaborate with social workers, childcare providers, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, observations, and interactions with children or individuals under supervision.
Engage in motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavior and personal growth.
Participate in training sessions related to child protective services, child welfare, and crisis management.
Qualifications
Supervised Visitation Monitor Certificate (Education Hours are Required)
Register on Trustline (Pass a Live Scan Background Check)
Experience working with children or individuals with substance use disorders/anger managements issues are highly desirable.
Strong skills in conflict management and crisis intervention are essential for success in this role.
Background in social work or related fields is preferred.
Familiarity with childcare practices and child protective services is beneficial.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required for effective interaction with children, families, and team members.
Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding when working with diverse populations.
Certification or training in motivational interviewing techniques is a plus.
Will help you get started in becoming certified as a supervised visitation monitor if needed We offer in-house training. Note: There is a standard industry fee to become certified to obtain education hours.
