Position Title: Maintenance MechanicDepartment: Operations/Facilities Reports To: Director of OperationsClassification: Part-time Hourly, Non-exemptCompensation: $23.00 an hourPosition Summary: Under general direction, responsible for the day to day maintenance and physical well being of the Toyota-Arena including all functions related to utilities, HVAC, and repair.Essential Functions: Operates, monitors, repairs, and maintains the facility's environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC, fire system, and lighting systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.Performs major and minor repairs to heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment.Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on low and high pressure boilers; checks for proper operation of safety devices; installs, repairs and tests backflow devices; tests and treats water in boilers, chilled water, and condenser water systems using standard procedures.Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on bearings, pumps, motors, shaft alignments and fans.Repairs and maintains food service equipment including ovens, grills, dishwashers, deep fryers, and refrigeration units.Performs general maintenance on equipment rooms; paints equipment as necessary to maintain a clean and safe environment.Locates, checks and cleans building smoke detector heads to ensure reliable operation in time of emergency.Responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provides information and service within the area of event orders; resolves complaints in an efficient and timely manner.Ensures that safety plans are fully in place and that all safety policies are followed.Operates equipment including, forklifts, power sweepers, power scrubbers, boom lifts, electric carts, and miscellaneous hand and power tools.Recommends requisition of supplies and materials to Director of Operations.Maintains daily work records.Performs other duties as assigned. Experience/Training/Education: Required: High School Diploma or GEDLicense/Certificate:Valid California Driver's LicenseEPA 608 certificationForklift certified preferredKnowledge/Abilities/Skills: Knowledge of:Operating principles of a wide range of heating, ventilation and air conditioning unitsMaintenance and repair techniques of food service equipmentElectrical practicesAbility to:Communicate effectively both verbally and in writingEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, peers, and the publicSkill to:Operate modern office equipment including, computer, fax, phone, and copy machineOperate a motor vehicleOperate equipment, such as, forklift, boom lift, electric carts, radio devices, etc.Physical and Environmental Requirements:This position requires heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, and crawling.
