Description An established East Bay Area law firm is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Litigation Paralegal to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for an experienced paralegal who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a proven track record of supporting attorneys in business litigation cases. The successful candidate will play an essential role in managing complex litigation matters and ensuring seamless case progression.Key Responsibilities:
Organize, maintain, and track case files, discovery materials, and pleadings throughout all phases of litigation.
Manage case calendars, including deadlines for filings, court appearances, and discovery milestones.
Draft, edit, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
Prepare court filings, ensuring compliance with California state and federal court rules, including e-filing.
Assist with drafting and responding to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and subpoenas.
Review and organize discovery documents for relevance, privilege, and case strategy using eDiscovery platforms.
Prepare and maintain privilege logs.
Organize trial exhibits, create trial binders, and coordinate witness preparation.
Provide on-site support during hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Conduct legal and factual research using databases such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
Prepare research summaries and case law analyses to assist attorneys in case strategy.
Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
Support attorneys in maintaining consistent client communication and providing case updates.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, with a focus on business litigation.
Familiarity with California state and federal court procedures, including e-filing and local rules.
Proficiency in eDiscovery platforms (Relativity, Concordance, etc.) and legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis).
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal document management systems.
