Description We are seeking a dedicated Director of Immigration Legal Services to join our team in Oakland, California. This role is essential to providing comprehensive immigration legal services to the immigrant communities of Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The Director will be instrumental in overseeing the development and supervision of our immigration legal services, working closely with the Chief Program Officer to align the program with our strategic goals. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive immigration legal services to the immigrant communities of Alameda and Contra Costa counties Collaborate with the Chief Program Officer to ensure the program aligns with agency goals and strategic plans Develop a culturally competent environment, policies, procedures, and literature Oversee the management of the Legal Services Program Manager, Immigration Attorneys, DOJ Accredited Representatives, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, and other program staff at our offices in Oakland, Richmond, and Concord Monitor performance goals for each staff member and provide performance evaluations and improvement plans as necessary Implement best practices across all sites and develop policies and procedures for Immigration Legal Services in accordance with appropriate standards Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement through regular evaluation of strengths and weaknesses of the services and outcomes measurement and analysis Coordinate the training needs of all staff to maintain accredited status for DOJ representatives or comply with continuing legal education requirements for attorneys Represent our agency to other organizations at community functions, and other events as requested Attend community meetings, agency administrative meetings, and program leadership team meetings, and act as a facilitator when appropriate Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising legal volunteers Oversee the tracking of revenues and expenses, reviewing financial statements, compiling projections, and ensuring appropriate levels of spending within approved budget and grant allowable-cost guidelines Ensure that all required paperwork for leaves of absences, performance evaluations, change in status forms, and job requisitions are completed and submitted in accordance with Department guidelines Ensure that all timesheets, requests for time off, and approvals of timecards organization’s time keeping system. Requirements Must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Must have a deep understanding and working knowledge of immigration law Experience with case management software and document management systems is essential Proficiency in 3M and Adobe Acrobat is required Prior experience in conveyancing is desirable Ability to handle claims administration and complaint handling effectively Experience in briefing and working in a consumer electronics environment is an advantage People management skills are essential, with a proven track record in a leadership role Must not have any discriminatory or prejudiced views towards any group of people Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High level of professionalism and ethical standards Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
