The COVID-19 Data, Epidemiology and Evaluation group seeks a data engineer who can manipulate, integrate, automate, and manage public health data sources and support the efforts to address COVID-19 . They will be developing and maintaining data pipelines for processing large amounts of data (millions of rows). They will also be asked to support multiple short-term data projects for visualization, dashboarding, and analysis. Examples of projects include probabilistic linkages between databases, analysis of vaccination rates, transforming static datasets from long to wide format, and capacity building for dashboarding and visualization.We are looking for someone with
SQL and R expertise, who knows about querying servers, setting up and automating virtual machines, and programming in general and has knowledge of Power BI. Epidemiology/public health (not health care) experience is preferred.Even if not experienced in all programming languages or software, experience in building capacity on the job is highly preferred. Qualifications include experience in the development, implementation, and assessment of health information systems, data visualization dashboards, and surveys; data management and quality analysis; and integration of multiple data sources for statistical analysis and triangulation. Periodic availability and ability to routinely respond to technical assistance requests and refactoring of scripts (either your own or that of previous consultants) is desirable.
