ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Building Maintenance Craftsworker position is expected to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties in the General Services Division of the Public Works Department. The General Services Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of assigned Presidio of Monterey buildings and facilities. Building Maintenance Craftsworkers will work as part of a team and independently, and are responsible to provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers. This position may be assigned to work shifts outside of the division's standard 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. work hours, including standby shifts.
As part of the recruitment process, candidates who are determined to meet the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be required to participate in a hands-on skills assessment that will test their carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical capabilities.
Employees will receive a 5.0% incentive pay for maintaining an active, or valid but inactive, California Class B General Building Contractors License.
Candidates who successfully complete all components of this recruitment process will be placed on an eligibility list. The eligibility list is active for 12-months and will only be used to fill the Building Maintenance Craftsworker positions at the Presidio of Monterey.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in general building maintenance and repair work. A Class B General Contractor’s License is desirable.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
