1. JOB SUMMARY

The duties of the Sales Associate include assisting customers in locating and purchasing merchandise, operating a POS system, stocking and recovering merchandise, cleaning the store, and performing other duties as assigned by the Store Manager to maximize store profitability and customer satisfaction.

2. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting with the selling of our store's products and services and assisting to maximize sales.

Develop and maintain good customer relationships.

Stocking shelves, setting up displays, ringing up merchandise and sales, and performing cleaning duties.

Support manager with inventory control, filling out paperwork, and possibly tasking volunteers or sales staff with daily duties for the smooth operation of the shop.

Service all customers through welcome greetings, merchandise sales, cashiering, merchandise bagging and carry-out assistance to customer's vehicle.

Service all donors through receiving donations, carry-in assistance from donor's vehicle, placing donations in designated areas, providing donation receipt and processing receipt with donation.

Full understanding and ability to support others in the store opening and closing procedures including cash register drawer counts. and end of day income reporting.

Lead volunteers through daily operations as required when no management is in shop, to include:

o Maintain opening, ongoing and end of day appearance of salesfloor, including dressing room cleanout, dusting, vacuuming, straightening racks and fixtures, and refreshing depleted displays.

o Process donations, including sorting, steaming, pricing and placing merchandise on sales floor.

Thorough understanding of POS systems and operations.

Consistently adhere to all Discovery Shop Standard Operating Procedures.

3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE:

High School graduate. Some college, including basic courses in business, mathematics, and economics, and/or work experience to equate to low level retail management experience, ie key holder, lead or above.
