Good organizational skills & computer skills are needed to assist in running a multiple art gallery location corporation specializing in high-end art sales & installations as well as artist representation. With locations in New Orleans & Carmel, California, & NOW Laguna Beach, this company has over 100 years of art industry dealings in New Orleans & the Gulf South. The ability to perform heavy lifting is required, as is having a sense of urgency & some initiative. Business hours are 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM, 7 days a week.
Job description is as follows: answering front desk phone, assisting salesmen on the floor, & locations in other cities with closing sales on high-end artwork. You will be working & assisting more than one sales team member at a time. Your duties may include contacting clients to resolve issues related to sales, shipping, damaged goods, appointments, & other tasks associated with sales closure & client maintenance. You will update sales books & sales records for the sales team in various locations. The job location is in the heart of Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA on Ocean Avenue.
The position is very clerical at times requiring solid knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel, & time management skills are a must. Experience with FileMaker Pro, or other database management software, is a plus BUT NOT necessary. You will not be considered if your resume does not list your aptitude & proficiency in these areas.
Art experience is NOT needed.
Applicants should be self-motivated, & have no issues dealing with the strong, sometimes difficult, personalities associated with the sales world, as well as the art world. This person should be open to critiques & have no issues assisting on a team for the greater good of the company. The ideal person may have some sales experience, but it isn't required, but an understanding of, & the experience working with salespeople, is.
You will answer directly to the V.P. of Operations but may be taking tasks from middle management. You must take direction well & be an independent thinker. Problem resolution skills are also a must; we are not looking for a parrot to repeat issues to us, we need someone who sees a problem & tackles it bringing a solution to the table along with the problem.
This position is for an outgoing & tough person, who can lift 70 lbs. or more, & wants a stable income with a rewarding work experience.
Hourly pay - some negotiability.
This is a part-time, hourly, position which must be filled immediately.
