The Public Works Department is currently seeking applications to join the Sanitation Division team as a Solid Waste Worker. This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week. Under supervision, Solid Waste Worker operates a variety of collection vehicles and collects refuse and recyclable materials on prescribed City routes; cleans and services collection vehicles; repairs and maintains refuse and recycling containers; and performs related work as required. Incumbents may work independently or as a member of a small crew. Minimum requirements are high school diploma or tested equivalent; some experience in vehicle operator maintenance; and a valid Class A or Class B driver’s license. A DMV printout must be submitted at the time of application. Familiarity with the Santa Cruz area and names of City streets is a plus.
