Here at Animal Hospital of Salinas you will play a vital role in providing top quality care to our patients, and bridging communication with clients so that owners can understand their pet's needs, ensuring their well-being. General purpose- To support veterinarians, and veterinary staff as directed or needed. To provide stellar and productive veterinary service/services.
Qualifications- Strong dog and cat handling skills (comfort around animals of all sizes and temperaments)
Veterinary terminology
Physical abilities to lift 50 lbs ,stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time
Vaccine knowledge (administration, education)
Perform/assist with laboratory sampling (Phlebotomy)
Pharmacology (read, interpret, and dispense prescriptions)
Radiology techniques (positioning, VA radiation exam)
Animal behavior
Aseptic technique
Microsoft word (Avimark knowledge is a plus!)
Strong customer service skills
Multi-task and prioritize
Punctual, honest and reliable is a must
Adaptive/Fast learner
VA certification preferred but not required
Responsibilities- Escort clients in rooms/taking patients in back for treatment
Gathering vital signs, brief patient history, and presenting information to doctor.
Restrain animals during examinations and treatments (low stress handling)
Administer vaccines, medications, and fluids
Perform generalized treatments
Client education
Filling/dispensing medications
Cleaning/ general hospital maintenance
Proper set up/ breakdown of work station(s)
Surgical assisting
