ABOUT THE POSITION:

The current Parking Controls Technician vacancy is in the Parking Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for daily maintenance and diagnostics of parking revenue and control equipment, revenue collection and responding to service calls. This position may be assigned to work one weekend day as part of the regular work schedule and may work additional weekends. This position works holidays and outdoors in all weather conditions.

The City of Monterey operates 31 parking facilities totaling 3,500 off-street parking spaces and 3,300 on-street spaces. Parking Control Technician play an integral role in the Parking Division mission to provide safe, clean, legal, and available parking to the citizens and visitors, of the City of Monterey.

SUMMARY: Under direction, to maintain and repair parking meters, ticket issuing machines, automatic parking equipment, and other parking control devices; to collect and account for money from meters and other parking control devices; and to do related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Completion of an electronics, computer or training program is desirable.

Experience: Two years experience in the maintenance and repair of money control devices or equivalent related experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License upon time of appointment and be insurable with the City’s standard insurance rate, unless otherwise approved by appointing authority.
