Vin By the Sea is a new wine bar and restaurant opening in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, specializing in 'Big Wines & Small Plates' offering an elevated yet approachable dining experience that celebrates both California + European wine culture with perfect chef inspired bites.
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced, wine-enthusiastic Servers who can deliver exceptional service while sharing their passion for wine with our guests. The ideal candidate will have strong food service skills combined with wine knowledge and the ability to create memorable dining experiences that highlight our unique offerings. You'll be an ambassador for our wine program, guiding guests through pairings and selections.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide attentive, knowledgeable service focusing on both wine and food offerings
● Confidently discuss wine regions, varietals, and tasting notes to assist guests with selections
● Recommend thoughtful wine pairings with our menu
● Maintain comprehensive knowledge of our rotating wine list and seasonal menu items
● Process orders through POS system
● Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas
● Collaborate effectively with kitchen, bar, and support staff
● Handle guest payments efficiently and accurately
● Participate in regular wine education sessions and tastings
● Build relationships with regular clientele, remembering preferences and offering personalized service
Qualifications
● Minimum 2 years of service experience
● Demonstrated wine knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for wine
● Basic food and wine pairing knowledge
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
● Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
● Valid food handler card (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
● Valid RBS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
Preferred Qualifications
● WSET / Somm certification or similar wine education / experience
● Experience in establishments with extensive wine programs
