Sous Chef (Not entry level)

We are looking to hire an experienced and dependable Sous Chef to join our restaurant. Sous Chef oversees food production. Supervises all kitchen staff during shift. Maintains high professional food quality and sanitation standards. Represents the company with a professional and positive demeanor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Address food preparation issues with Executive Chef, managers, and other staff members.

Order food, kitchen supplies and equipment in coordination with the Executive Chef.

Train and enforce sanitary regulations and company policies.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Must be a skilled broiler and sautéed cook.

Knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services ordering and inventory control.

Understands, follows, and enforces safety procedures.

Organizational and coordination skills.

Skills in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.

Ability to develop and test recipes and/or techniques for food preparation/presentation.

Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.

Must work on the line.

Must have butcher skills for both meat and whole fish.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have at least three (3) years’ experience working as a Sous Chef.

Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

Maintain high level of personal cleanliness, effective communication skills and enjoy cooking

Punctuality and flexibility to perform shift work based on a 40-50 hour workweek schedule as required.

Ability to work under pressure and stay calm in demanding situations.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.

Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to thirty pounds or standing and/or walking for more than (8) hours per day.

The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
