Private Estate Chef & Housekeeping Manager (Housing Included)

Stonepine Estate is seeking a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team at our private estate in the beautiful Carmel Valley, California. This hybrid role combines culinary expertise with housekeeping management to ensure our guests have a seamless and luxurious experience.

Responsibilities:

1. In-House Chef

Meal Planning and Preparation:

- Plan and prepare meals for individuals and small groups staying at the estate.

- Develop diverse and seasonal menus tailored to guest preferences and dietary requirements.

- Ensure high-quality presentation and flavor in all dishes served.

Procurement and Cost Management:

- Purchase all necessary ingredients and kitchen supplies.

- Maintain a detailed spreadsheet of all food-related expenses, ensuring budget adherence.

- Work with local suppliers to source fresh and premium ingredients.

- Organize and manage food and beverage services for small events, sourcing external "flex" staff as needed.

Kitchen Maintenance:

- Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, organized, and up to health and safety standards.

- Manage inventory of kitchen supplies and food stock.

2. Housekeeping Manager

Team Management:

- Schedule housekeeping staff to clean and prepare rooms as required by guest arrivals and departures.

- Oversee the quality of cleaning and maintenance throughout the estate.

- Provide training and support to the housekeeping team to uphold high standards of cleanliness and service.

Operational Support:

- Occasionally assist in cleaning and preparing rooms when the team is short-staffed or during peak periods.

- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and common areas to ensure cleanliness and readiness.

3. Guest Services and On-Site Responsibilities

On-Call Duties:

- Live on-site to provide after-hours support for guest inquiries and issues.

- Answer phones and assist guests promptly and professionally.

- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to enhance guest experiences and address any concerns.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a chef, with the ability to plan and prepare diverse menus.

- Background managing food and beverage experiences.

- Strong culinary skills with attention to detail and presentation.

- Experience managing or supervising housekeeping staff is preferred.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Proficiency in using spreadsheets for cost tracking and scheduling.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

- Must live on-site in provided housing and be available for on-call duties.

- Ability to speak Spanish is of benefit.
