Golden Roots Kitchen Cook

Our cooks take the lead in the kitchen to execute our weekly menu of 20+ dishes. Competency on the range and ovens is a must. Our menus are internationally inspired, so we prefer chefs with diverse experience cooking a wide range of cuisines.

We strive to never put out a dish we aren’t proud of and expect our chefs to hold the line of quality in our kitchen—ensuring proper cooking technique, seasoning, and consistency with every dish. This includes prep cooking with care and precision, following recipes and systems, and being able to work efficiently while maintaining high standards.

Attention to detail and a flair for plating and packaging are essential. We aim to create meals that not only taste amazing but look beautiful and feel intentional—offering our clients an exceptional at-home dining experience.

Our kitchen functions as a true team, and each member is expected to both lead and support depending on what the situation demands. Professional knife skills, confidence, and the ability to receive feedback when necessary are a must.

Who We Are

Golden Roots Kitchen is a prepared-meal service focused on providing clients with the highest quality and flavor food possible. Our service is membership-based and we take our responsibility, to nourish individuals and families, seriously. We are dedicated to cooking with integrity, from scratch and with intention while maintaining a positive work environment. Each week we curate a menu of organic, gluten-free, highly-flavorful foods to prepare and execute over the course of Thursday through Tuesday.

We are grateful to live in a community that prioritizes the environment and we take our role in its protection seriously. We choose packaging materials that are compostable or re-usable and have developed infrastructure to reduce waste and packaging as much as possible. We prioritize relationships with local farms and choose suppliers that partner with organic earth minded businesses.

Required Skills

3–5 years of professional culinary experience, with strong prep skills and attention to detail

Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production kitchen

A passion for beautifully executed food and thoughtful presentation—especially when it comes to packaging for a premium at-home experience

Experience following recipes accurately; familiarity with recipe scaling software is a plus

Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to stay focused and efficient during long prep and packaging sessions

Basic computer literacy (our kitchen uses digital tools and systems to streamline production)

ServSafe Certificate

A collaborative attitude and the ability to both take direction and lead when needed

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods

Personal integrity, clear communication, and a desire to grow with a team committed to excellence

Responsibilities:

Execute prep tasks with efficiency, accuracy, and care, following detailed recipes and batch instructions

Assist in the preparation of a diverse, rotating menu of seasonal dishes with high standards for flavor and presentation

Cook and season components using proper culinary techniques, ensuring consistency and quality

Package meals with attention to detail and aesthetics, ensuring each dish is labeled correctly and presented beautifully for delivery

Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment at all times

Communicate clearly and professionally with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations

Participate in inventory tracking and ingredient management, alerting the team to low or missing items

Support dishwashing and kitchen cleaning duties as needed—everyone pitches in where needed

Uphold our kitchen’s values of care, integrity, and excellence in every task

Be open to feedback and committed to personal and professional growth within a team-driven environment

Availability

Weekend availability required

Working schedule is four days a week, with potential for growth

Friday-Monday

Compensation

Starting Hourly Pay: $23-25/hr depending on experience

Monthly Tips: an additional average $2+/hr

Weekly food credit applied toward GRK meals
