About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Shear and Brake Press Operator with at least 2 years of hands-on fabrication experience. This role is responsible for accurately cutting, bending, and forming sheet metal components to specification while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the metal shear to cut sheet metal to the required dimensions.
Set up, operate, and adjust CNC or manual brake press machines for bending and forming operations.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine job specifications.
Perform material inspections to ensure size, type, and quality before processing.
Measure completed workpieces using calipers, tape measures, and square tools to verify accuracy.
Select proper tooling, dies, punches, and back gauges for each job run.
Maintain machine settings, perform routine cleaning, and report any mechanical issues.
Follow all safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized work area.
Assist with material handling, staging, and movement as needed.
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production deadlines.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience operating shear and brake press equipment.
Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and forming processes.
Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication prints.
Skilled in precision measuring tools and quality checks.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Preferred Skills
Experience with CNC brake press programming (Amada, Accrues, etc.)
General welding or fabrication skills
Forklift certification or material handling experience
