The Risk Analyst I/II is responsible to perform professional and technical level work pertaining to workers compensation, general liability, and insurance requirements within the City's Human Resources Department; to provide expertise in program elements for the organization; and to assist the Risk Manager with tasks related to assigned area of responsibility.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Risk Analyst I - This is the entry level class in the Risk Analyst series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience. The Risk Analyst I is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level or by performance of a limited scope of duties. Incumbents work under general supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to direction as the procedures and processes of the assigned area of responsibility are learned. While most positions are allocated at the II level and incumbents advance to the II based on scope, complexity of work and level of independence, some positions may be permanently allocated at the I level or some incumbents may remain at the I level.
Risk Analyst II - This is the journey level class in the Risk Analyst series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual or unique situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.
