Description Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for a detail-oriented and analytical interim Senior Accountant to support our retail client in the Los Angeles Southbay area for on an onsite 3+ month engagement. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of daily cash reconciliations for allocated stores in Oracle PeopleSoft. Your primary duties will include reconciling and posting downloaded transactions in PeopleSoft against various bank transactions, processing massive daily credit card transactions including Discovery, MasterCard, Visa, Debit Cards, and American Express, and updating and entering change orders in the shared worksheet during morning hours.Additionally, you will be responsible for manually clearing remaining transactions in PeopleSoft after bank downloads, handling ad hoc projects as assigned, managing zero price returns, reconciling Safe Connect credits, reconciling coin deposits, processing intercompany write-offs for accounts receivables clean-up in Garpac daily, and uploading accounts receivable check deposits in FileNet.The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft and knowledge of banking transactions and credit card processing is preferred.What you get to do every day

Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

Operate with business partners to create compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests

Formulate Balance Sheet account reconciliations

Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

Build analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)

Work with internal and external auditors to coordinate quarterly reviews and testing

Administer monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP

Bring a daily dedication to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

Requirements

BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

Strong time management and organizational skills

Solid understanding of PeopleSoft

A strong track record of communicating, both verbally and in writing, with functional department managers

Competence with financial data analysis and report generation that is prompt and accurate

5+ years of overall general accounting experience

Be detailed, flexible, and organized

Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
