Description Robert Half is looking for a Staff Accountant for a long-term contract / temporary role. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Lynwood, California region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.Your responsibilities in this role
Partake in annual closing processes
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision Requirements - Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Demonstrated knowledge of government contracts
Adeptness in Government compliance
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Government agencies & programs experience highly desired
Foundational knowledge in general ledger
Deep understanding of bank reconciliations
Command of Accounts Receivable (AR)
QuickBooks experience highly preferred
Practical knowledge of month end closings
General familiarity with journal entries
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Skilled with ERP systems
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong attention to detail
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
