We need someone to work with us in developing a business book. You will be working in our office for the duration of the book development. You will be responsible for keeping our book manuscripts on trackfrom ideation to final manuscriptand delivering files to the printer on time.
The perfect candidate should have several years experience in book publishing and can demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving throughout the book process.
Job responsibilities:
Make sure all written content is in line with the writer's message, statistics, tone and voice.
Meet deadlines and project updates
Lead in project planning and scheduled meetings
Schedule and facilitate book discovery/ideation meetings
Create chapter outlines and revisions from ideation/feedback meetings
Hire and manage writers, editors and other sources needed to bring the book into fruition
Review book chapters, provide substantive edits or manage developmental editor to produce final manuscript
Copyedit book manuscripts or manage copyeditors, collating editing marks as needed
Manage proofreaders, collating marks onto master document for typesetter
Track and organize all versions of book outlines and manuscripts
Demonstrate proficiency in editing on paper with standard editing marks and electronically with Microsoft Word's "Track Changes" feature.
Serve as fact-checker to verify the accuracy of statistics, Scripture references, names, dates, facts, URLs, etc. in every manuscript
Work with typesetters, jacket designers, and e-pub designers to ensure that the manuscript and book files are ready for print
Have a great attitude and a high work ethic
