I am not expecting a big response to this ad.
But if you are that one in a thousand individual to whom this appeals, this could be life-changing.
I seek a tech partner who can help turn two ideas into reality.
One idea has big potential upside. That's our for-profit venture.
The other idea is for a nonprofit that is a passion project. If you care about journalism, democracy and reducing toxic partisanship, you will be proud to join in.
Both projects will use essentially the same platform, with some minimal tweaking required.
There are no hourly or monthly or flat fees to be had. You would be an equity partner, in on the ground floor.
If you simply must get paid right now, you need to look for other projects. This is for true believers only.
I understand there is no way for you to determine if you are a true believer or not until you see the ideas.
I will happily share the ideas with you if you have the skills we need and you are truly up for this kind of adventure.
I seek a partner who will stick with this for maybe 5-10 years and maybe even longer in the hope we can build up something amazing.
The ideal candidate is someone who has already made money in tech and who can afford to take a flyer. If you have contacts in the tech/VC world, that's a big plus.
If you like the ideas, that would be a reason for you to proceed. If you don't like the ideas, there's no reason to waste each other's time.
I have a small team of college computer science majors currently working on these ideas, as unpaid interns.
The students are good, but they need oversight and direction that I'm not qualified to provide. I'm an idea guy and a marketer. I am older, not so smart about social media, AI and mobile apps. I hope you can handle all that. If you are a tech visionary, even better.
We also face student turnover every semester, so there is often a "one step back before we can take two steps forward"
As our CTO, you will oversee our student team, with one student serving as your assistant. That person will be the point person for the interns when you aren't around. I see you putting in maybe 15 hours a week into this, to start; once things settle down, I see maybe 5-7 hours a week.
Our team is virtual. We use Slack and hold one meeting a week that lasts 40 minutes or so.
As noted, one of our ideas is big but I think it could be bigger yet. To really do this right, we will need to raise money, but having a great site built is an important first step.
We tried building the site using React/HTML, but we ran into trouble and switched over to WordPress.
Our WordPress site is now maybe 80% done. We want to finish the WordPress site first before considering software alternatives. We can consider the WordPress site our MVP and get fancier later.
If you are part of a bigger organization that might want to take this on, that could work. That might be better, really; then we're not dependent on one individual.
