A Chassis and Trailer Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical components of vehicle chassis systems, as well as providing roadside assistance for vehicles experiencing mechanical issues. This role ensures vehicles are safe, reliable, and compliant with safety regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Inspect vehicles for faulty parts and diagnose mechanical issues related to chassis systems, including brakes, suspension, and steering.

Use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks.

Repair or replace malfunctioning chassis parts and components, including shocks, struts, and steering systems.

Conduct electrical repairs, such as fixing faulty wiring or broken lights.

Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication work as needed.

Provide emergency roadside assistance, including jump-starting vehicles, changing flat tires, and performing minor repairs.

Assess and address mechanical issues on-site to ensure vehicles can safely continue their journey.

Ensure trailer compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Test trailers before and after repairs to verify functionality.

Maintain detailed records of services performed and parts used.

Provide clients with estimates of repairs and time frames for completion.

Assist within the shop to repair trucks and trailers.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a vocational or technical training program in trailer mechanics is preferred.

2+ years of proven experience as a Trailer Mechanic or similar role, preferably in a logistics or transportation environment.

Must have chassis experience

Strong knowledge of trailer systems, including brakes, suspension, electrical, and hydraulic components.

Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of trailers.

Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and procedures.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
