Shipping and Receiving Clerk

We are a 35 year old machine shop that manufactures welding machines and things are booming. We are looking for a Shipping and Receiving Clerk. Under the direction of the Director of Operations the Shipping and Receiving Clerk is in charge of the Shipping and Receiving area and the organization of raw material, finished product, and loading and unloading shipments. This person must understand the importance of safety and be able to foresee hazards in their area and problem solve effectively to ensure company safety standards.

Responsibilities:

-Load and unload heavy structures and machinery by using forklifts, overhead cranes and jib cranes, understanding capacities and limitations of hoist straps, chains and other type of material handling products

-Must have a license to operate forklifts with a minimum weight capacity of 6,000lbs

-Must be able to complete basic clerical work- like receiving inspections to verify correct material orders have been received

-Consistently organize the shipping and receiving area, maintaining order and properly identify material designated for specific customers

-Be able to perform professional packaging to ensure protection of finish product keeping presentation in mind

-Complete regular inspections of the shipping and receiving area, maintaining supplies required to perform job efficiently

-Develop professional relationships with drivers by being helpful and by thoroughly communicating technical information

-Controlling and monitoring inventory of raw materials

-Assist with the monitoring of shop safety standards

Requirements:

At least 3 years of experience in a shipping and receiving department

Have a general knowledge of metals like aluminum, mild steel, copper, bronze, etc.

Work independently in the absence of supervision

Have a basic understanding of drawings

Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as push/pull

Must be highly organized, detail oriented

High school diploma or equivalent

Excellent communication skills

Outstanding leadership skills

Be a team player

Must be able to manage multiple work priorities in a fast-paced environment

Must be available 40 hours per week
