We’re restoring our original “Hippo Boat”, once part of the iconic Lion Country Safari attraction, and we're looking for a skilled individual or team to handle the body and electrical restoration.
Scope of Work Includes:
Strip and remove old paint from fiberglass hull and body
Repair damaged fiberglass, including seats and other structural areas
Repaint the boat to closely match its original design (photos provided)
Rewire the boat’s electric system (basic 12V wiring – lighting/switches only)
Build a new wooden mount for the electric motor (no motor work required)
No engine repair needed – this is primarily a cosmetic and light electrical restoration.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience with fiberglass repair and marine painting
Familiarity with 12V marine electrical systems
Carpentry skills for motor mount fabrication
Attention to detail and the ability to work from reference photos
Own tools and workspace (preferred but not required)
This is a fun and unique project to help restore a well-loved part of Lion Country Safari’s history. You’ll be helping us preserve a classic!
