This post is targeting an experienced furniture maker, joiner, cabinet maker
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, qualifications, and the desire to produce top notch furniture and components
Job purpose
Under the direction of the Custom Department Lead, fabricate custom cabinetry, millwork, and furniture, as per supplied drawings to meet client specifications
Duties and responsibilities
Perform and facilitate but not limited to the following:
Wear the required PPE, and attire, take all necessary precautions to remain safe
Report unsafe working conditions to Custom Department Lead immediately
Report any accidents or injuries to Custom Department Lead immediately
Read and translate blueprints and jobsite measurements to produce the finished product
Plan an effective approach to work to ensure that each project is completed on time
Select the appropriate materials, fittings, and tools for each task
Cut, sand, and shape resources to size, as needed
Assemble finished product using methods such as drilling, screwing, and or gluing and clamping
Suggest engineering and design changes when faced with possible issues
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications must include:
5 Years in the capacity of furniture maker, joiner, or cabinet maker
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Experience in veneer selection, joinery, matching, and application
Joinery experience
Strong math skills to calculate material yield and project requirements, as well as convert metric and fractional dimensions
Ability to identify domestic and exotic wood species
Ability to identify and duplicate common and technical wood joints
Ability to read and translate blueprints and jobsite measurements
Ability to read and use woodworking related measuring devices
Ability to use hand tools related to the woodworking business in a safe and professional manner. Including but not limited to:
o Ladder o Hammer o Utility knife
o Chisel o Nail Set
Ability to use power tools related to the woodworking business in a safe and professional manner. Including but not limited to:
o Nail guns o Routers o Sanders
o Drills o Edge sander o Plate joiner
o Domino joiner o Jig saw o Power saw
o Band saw o Chop Saw o Table saw
o Sliding table saw o Shaper o Jointer
o Planer o Molder o Wide belt sander
o Pocket screw machine o Vertical drill machine o Horizontal drill machine
o Case clamp
Working conditions
Candidate will report directly to the Custom Department Lead. The job will be performed during normal business hours on premises in an indoor shop environment. Requires long periods of standing. Subject to noise from equipment operation
Physical requirements
Physical requirements include but not limited to the following:
Bending, pushing, moving, lifting objects, weighing up to 50 pounds, heavy physical labor, standing and walking for extended periods of time, climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, carrying, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized tools and equipment, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally
