Job description

Immediate opening for a Diesel Mechanic for our facility. This position performs necessary tasks under minimal supervision from the Fleet Manager. The purpose of the position is to maintain and repair all Tankers and tractor-trailers within the fleet. This position requires a comprehensive working knowledge of all mechanical systems, as well as knowledge of rules and regulations mandated by local authorities as well as CHP, DOT, and the FMCSA. Minimum of 2 days per week with a maximum 4 days per week. Responsibilities:

Create and record duties performed on daily work orders

Perform repairs of various truck & tanker components that could include troubleshooting, Diagnostics, etc.,

Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire repair, tire rotation and oil changes

Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop and work truck

Collaborate with the Transportation Manager to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs

Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks

Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles

Qualification & Skills:

5+ years experience as a Diesel Mechanic

Must possess his/her tools in order to perform tasks

Experience working on medium/heavy-duty tractor-trailer repairs

Able to perform most repairs without supervision

Considerable knowledge of Mechanical Tools

Proficient and certified in performing D.O.T, annual/90 day BIT inspections

Familiar with different trailers and tanker equipment

know about all mechanical systems concerning diesel-powered engines and general knowledge of rules

Ability to lift 50-60 pounds as required

Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics

ASE Diesel Certification is an asset

Preferably hold a Class A License

Computer skills required

Welding
