We are looking for qualified people who have experience being cashiers. The store is in Santa Monica. It is much preferred that you also have background with liquors, wine, or beer. For instance, we do feel that bartenders can transition into this job fairly quickly and well.
It is a very high paced liquor store with a lot of customers per hour. We also have lotto, so you will continually be helping people. We expect anybody applying to this job to be punctional, and willing to work the hours that they are given.
The training will be with management during the day time shifts, however, that is not your not true hours. The training starts at 18 dollars, and when we feel you are ready and can be depended on, the pay goes to minimum 20 dollars per hour. A lot of the pay really comes down to how hard you are trying, and how well you are learning the store, along with experience that you might have had from the past. Along with that pay raise also comes hours that are more demanding. All cashiers are expected to work Thursday- Sunday. We expect anybody training to be willing to work those hours once training is done. There will also be other days, but those days are a must. A lot of the shifts will also be till 11pm (or even midnight on Friday and Saturday, if we trust you enough to close in time)
We feel that if you are truly dedicated to being a good employee, you should be able to get past training within a couple of months without an issue. However, reality is that not everybody wants to work hard, so there is also a high chance that you will let be go if we do not feel you are taking this seriously.
I can not stress enough, this is a high paced store. Your main job will be cashier, but there are also things that we will teach you that need to be done such as filling the wine cooler, or liquor shelf from time to time. There is always something to do at our store.
Personality is also very important. It is important that you have an energetic personality, but also do not mistake this job for social hour. In the past, we have had issues finding cashiers with great personalities, that also had liquor store experience.
If you have both of those, I will make time to hop on a zoom call preferably. I like to see who I am talking too. With that being said, if you do not have both of those, but only one it would help a lot if you would be willing to send in a quick video of yourself to the email provided. You do not need to say much, again, I do like to put faces behind the replies. As you probably all know, the amount of replies on craiglist are extremely over- whelming.
