We're a pre-seed tech startup (a Network Effects Platform with a 90% completed & scalable MVP) that is currently looking for a right-hand person to assist the founder in "almost everything."
This means you will be exposed to nearly every aspect of the startup experience (save for what has already been achieved), which will range from helping me hire and manage two new developers, one new designer, and one PT social media manager. (My previous devs and designers were located offshore, and I am now seeking U.S.-based people only.)
As well, you'll help me with QA, overseeing the Admin panel of the actual web site itself, and with organizational matters (such as setting up our Data Room, etc.).
All this will come one step at a time.
You don't have to know what these things are to be hired for this position, but you do need to be good with moving in and out of apps, able to learn new systems, and otherwise be tech savvy (not in a development/programmer sense, but in usage sense).
You'll also work with me regarding Marketing on an ongoing basis via overseeing our ad placements & analyzing their ROI, and overseeing the social media manager, etc. (once we are at this point). Especially, we have a really fun and exciting 4-6 week initial Marketing Launch that needs to be executed seamlessly, and you will be helping to oversee this as well (creatively and administratively).
While I will want to put you in charge of these various assignments/jobs/tasks, I'll also need you to be able to do what I do all the time, which is to jump in and "do it myself" when needed. Whatever it takes is what has to be done. In fact, this Craigslist job post could have been called "Jack of all Trades for pre-startup.".
I learned from my first original U.S. developers (who were not successful at completing the MVP) and then from my offshore developer guys and gals (who were successful up to a certain point) that I am very open-minded and flexible. I'm always open and interested to listen to others' ideas for changes or improvements, to their creative ideas, and/or to their ideas for making things more efficient (I really do love efficiency).
Yet I also learned from their feedback that I can get very focused and driven and that timely communication turnarounds are imperative to me.
What they say (above) is fair and true. Founders are supposed, even required, to be this way if they want to succeed. They cannot "take it easy," be wishy-washy, laid back, or otherwise leisurely by default. Yet to some people, the kind of pace and intensity a startup requires makes them uncomfortable, and therefore they would not be a good match for this role.
To be clear, however, it's not a constant demanding pace, whatsoever (though "constant" is the key word here). Instead, it's more like bursts of potently-focused meetings, discussions, and decision making followed by more easy-going execution, updates, and evaluation. In other words, an ongoing refinement of a matter until it's completed.
If you also have an ambitious nature and are the kind of person who likes to keep things updated and "stay on top of things" with action, updates and communication then we may be good fit.
The more valuable the person who fills this role becomes to me, the more they will be rewarded. For instance, you will be offered more money and even equity (ownership) in the company as we move forward. That's how it works. And while learning new skills, gaining experience and earning money are indeed very valuable, owning equity is what makes it a possibility to receive a big pay off if/when the business is acquired.
Serious candidates please reach out. Tell me how and why you are interested in fulfilling and/or growing into this role. How does it fit into your day to day life now, and how might it be of value to you going forward? Please tell me of your favorite previous work experiences. Sharing resumes, websites, IG, LinkedIn, FB - anything that helps me get a picture of who you are and what YOUR dreams and goals are is helpful.
