Currently, there are 2 positions we are looking to fill.
- A skilled prep/painter.
- A skilled faux finisher.
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 4 years experience in various painting techniques including Prep, Painting, Roman Clay, Lime Wash, Venetian Plaster etc.
General Scope of Duties:
- Prepare the environment and surfaces first, by cleaning the space however necessary ie. removing all dust, debris, old paint on surrounding surfaces, sweeping floors etc.
- Mask all necessary areas with clean and straight tape lines, using appropriate tape for each surface.
- Protect all surrounding surfaces with plastic, paper and any additional materials necessary.
- Address any repairs needed using patch, sparkle, 20 minute, skim coating etc.
- Sand & clean surface.
- Prime and paint (when necessary) then begin application of chosen finish.
- When using certain plasters, there will need to be sanding involved in the process.
- Understanding when to use a specific grit sandpaper and how much pressure is needed.
- Depending on the desired finish, we can use an array of tools, including trowels, putty knives, large hand brushes, rollers and sprayers.
- It is important to take care of our tools and supplies and to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
General Qualifications:
- Care and attention to detail is crucial.
- Having the ability to listen, communicate and follow directions, is of the utmost importance.
- Being able to respect and work well with others.
- Understanding how to work with various materials including brushes, rollers, trowels, spackle, compound, bondo, caulking, primers, paints, plasters, lime base paints, sealers etc.
- General knowledge and understanding of basic preparation and painting.
- Has worked with a few different speciality finishes and has basic knowledge and understanding of these products and application.
- Is overall, in good health. (This is a physical job and requires an element of stamina and strength, including the ability to work on your feet for long periods of time)
Hours & Pay:
- The starting rate will begin at $30 an hour.
- After 90 days, there will be a performance review and a discussion involving a potential raise, being added to payroll and health insurance.
- After 90 days you will be paid time & 1/2 for any work done on weekends and holidays.
- After 1 year on payroll, you will receive a 2 week paid vacation.
- When traveling long distances, 10 or more miles, you will be compensated 70 cents on each mile.
- Our work hours are 7-3:30 with 2, 15 minute paid breaks, and a 30 minute, unpaid lunch.
