Paralegal (In-House, Residential Property Management)

We are a fast-growing Private Residential Property Management Company looking for a highly motivated and experienced In-House Corporate Paralegal to join our Corporate Office located in Downtown Los Angeles. The Paralegal will work directly with our Legal Counsel and In-House Legal Team to prepare for upcoming and on-going cases, get involved in fact-finding projects and be responsible for developing and maintaining an index system for all case files. Candidates for this position must have Real Estate Paralegal Experience. The selected candidate must be a highly organized, professional, and responsible leader and team player committed to helping us meet our corporate objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Discovery (Propounding and Responding).

Work with Legal Counsel and In-House Legal Team to develop legal arguments, motions, answers, complaints and other case filings. Create reports/documents based on case specifications and attorney requests.

Witness interviews and help prepare Declarations and other documents with Courts/Arbitration services.

Develop a case file indexing system that can be used as an active archive for all ongoing and completed cases.

Monitor changes and keep up-to-date on property management laws and government guidelines or regulations (e.g., on evictions, rent increases, etc.), and submit reports on pertinent changes.

Utilize existing files and a variety of other research resources to develop information for pending cases. Provide overall administrative support to the Legal Counsel and In-House Legal Team (document/spreadsheet scanning, copying, e-mailing, cloud uploading, etc.)

Help promote a corporate culture of regulatory compliance and provide Management with relevant information and guidance in regulatory matters.

Identify areas of improvement and introduce innovations to help corporate efficiency, organization and accuracy in legal matters.

Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Management.

Requirements:

Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies (Bachelor's degree preferred).

3-to-5 years of experience in Property Management / Real Estate Paralegal work (preferably in Conventional and Affordable Housing Property Management - particularly in Landlord/Tenant Legal Issues).

Excellent leadership, communication and organization abilities. Excellent team player.

Strong research and report-generating skills.

Industry-recognized certification from organizations such as NALA or AACP (preferred).

Experience in using legal database software.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize work to meet the needs of the company.

Ability to quickly gain skills and knowledge when faced with new challenges.

Working knowledge of legal concepts and principles.

Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office.

Must project a highly-professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Must have a valid driver's license.
