Come work at one of America’s most recognized film schools on our historic campus located in the Hollywood area next to Griffith Park. AFI is currently recruiting a Technician, Plant Operations and Maintenance with a strong background in light construction, building maintenance and repairs.
The Technician, Plant Operations and Maintenance will perform routine maintenance/repairs and be part of a team responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the AFI Community and all visitors to the AFI campus which is home to our world-renown film training program, the AFI Conservatory. Created in the White House Rose Garden by presidential mandate in 1965, the American Film Institute (AFI) is America’s promise to preserve the history of the motion picture, to honor the artists and their work and to educate the next generation of storytellers. A national educational arts organization, AFI provides leadership in film, television and digital media and is dedicated to initiatives that engage the past, the present and the future of the moving image arts.
The Technician, Plant Operations and Maintenance is a full time position and prospective applicants should exhibit good teamwork, customer service skills, conflict resolution, and be able to work independently or within a small team to meet our goals in keeping the campus functioning, among other responsibilities.
Ideal applicant should have:
Experience with one or more trades including painting, drywall construction, electrical, plumbing and HVAC to service repair and
maintenance needs for all Campus buildings and grounds.
Be able to assist in all office relocations, which includes the moving of furniture and any required office repairs.
Ensure compliance with established safety & maintenance/repair standards on Campus.
Provide staffing support for off-campus and on-campus event setups.
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, run or climb stairs to quickly respond to emergency situations and work in inclement
weather.
