American Ironworks Mfg Inc has been in the steel fabrication and installation business for almost 30 years. We fabricate and install beams, columns, stairs, and miscellaneous steel for both commercial and residential.
Our Company is looking for a Structural Steel Fitter.
The Structural Steel Fitter is responsible for assembling and installing structural steel components in construction projects, ensuring precision, quality, and compliance with safety standards. This role requires the ability to read blueprints, use specialized tools and equipment, and work collaboratively in a team to meet project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication and Assembly
1. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine assembly instructions.
2. Measure, cut, and shape steel components using tools such as torches, saws, and shears.
3. Assemble and fit steel components according to detailed drawings, ensuring alignment and fit within tolerances.
4. Weld, bolt, or rivet steel parts as required, adhering to project specifications.
Quality Assurance and Safety
8. Inspect completed work to verify alignment, dimensions, and adherence to specifications.
9. Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety regulations.
10. Identify and address potential hazards, reporting them to the Shop Supervisor.
Maintenance and Equipment Handling
11. Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
12. Operate machinery such as grinders, drills, and welding machines safely and efficiently.
Collaboration and Documentation
13. Collaborate with Project Managers and Shop Supervisor technical issues and ensure seamless project execution.
14. Document work progress and report any delays or challenges to the Shop Supervisor
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in welding or steel fabrication is preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in structural steel fitting or a related field.
Technical Skills
Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
Skilled in welding, cutting, and grinding.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift heavy materials.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Stamina to perform physically demanding tasks.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors
