Role Details:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and reliable part-time housekeeper to support a young Japanese American family of three in Manhattan Beach, CA. The housekeeper will be responsible for keeping the home clean, organized, and well-maintained. Duties include cleaning, laundry, errands, managing household inventory, coordinating maintenance, handling package returns, greeting guests, and light food prep. They will also assist with packing for travel and liaising with third-party service providers.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and flexible, with experience managing household tasks and working with vendors. While not required, occasional babysitting and familiarity with the family’s cultural background (Japan) would be a plus.

Position Details

Job Title: Part time Housekeeper

Location: Manhattan Beach, CA

Hours: 9am – 2pm, 4 days per week, 20 hours per week guaranteed. Days can be chosen by the housekeeper

Salary: Starting from $40 per hour, dependent on experience

Benefits: TBD but PTO and federal holidays provided

The Family: Mom, dad, 18-month-old girl, no pets

The House: Approx 6,000 sq ft

The Staff: Currently a nanny/housekeeper – this role will replace them (without the childcare requirements)

Start Date: Flexible but ideally ASAP

Duties:

Full housekeeping and laundry, including linens and towels

Organizing cupboards and general tidying (keeping things in order, especially with toys)

Arranging external cleaning of furnishings/ windows/ dry cleaning etc. - anything that requires a 3rd party

Errand running – grocery and supplies shop (watching stock levels in the home), returning packages, recording receipts

Food prep, helping with snacks for the child, and helping with adults’ meal prep

Assisting with 3rd party contractors – showing them where to go, overseeing appointments

Packing for travel: helping family pack for travel, in particular for the child ensuring nothing is missed

Housesitting when the family are away (overnights not required)

Assisting in the creation of a household manual/ procedures e.g. contact lists, calendars for annual cleaning, etc.

Childcare, not required but light watching of the child when taking naps if mom needs to run out for an errand would be ideal (rarely required)

Candidates MUST be/ have:

Must be legally able to work in the US

A clean valid Driver’s License, with own car to travel to and from work.

Live in the surrounding area/ with a reasonable or typical commute time

Minimum 5 years working in a similar role

Excellent references required from both current and previous employers

Happy to sign a confidentiality agreement and non-disclosure agreement before starting work with the family.

First Aid/ CPR trained, or willing to learn in case of emergencies
