Job Title: Material Handler – Shipping & Receiving Lead

Location: Carpinteria, CA 93013

Payrate: $22.31 - $27.36 per hour (depending on experience/qualifications).

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Material Handler – Shipping & Receiving Lead to help ensure the smooth and timely processing of all incoming and outgoing shipments. In this role, you will oversee daily functions, lead a team of 5+ employees, and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the shipping and receiving process.

Key Responsibilities:

Train and Develop: Train personnel in all aspects of their job and assist in the development of new processes and procedures.

Daily Operations: Assist in all daily functions of shipping and receiving including unloading, validating counts, stocking items, picking finished goods, packing, and processing sales orders.

Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of Material Handlers, delegating tasks and motivating your team to ensure productivity and quality.

KPI Reporting: Collect, prepare, and present all department Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data.

Shipping Coordination: Communicate with carriers to arrange outgoing shipments and assist with RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) processes.

Problem Solving: Organize and implement A3, 5Y, and PDCA problem-solving sessions to improve processes.

Equipment Handling: Operate power trucks and other equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, miter saws, and packsize machines.

Customer Communication: Manage email inquiries, including tracking numbers and proof of deliveries.

What We’re Looking For:

Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, and carriers.

Team-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to work well with others and lead a team in a dynamic environment.

Experience: Prior experience in shipping and receiving is a plus.

Technical Skills: Ability to operate industrial power trucks and equipment; basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including KPI table creation).

Organized: Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Abilities: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and lift heavy materials.

Punctuality & Dependability: Ensure consistent and reliable performance in daily tasks.

Productivity: Efficiently accomplish assigned tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.
