SUMMARY
What is my purpose?
The Logistics Coordinator acts as a liaison between our customer service team, freight carriers and our Bay Cities Logistics Team. The Logistics Coordinator will work with our BCL Team to secure Common carriers, expedite the sharing of information and documentation between customer service, carriers and our BCL Team. As the Logistics Coordinator you will communicate with dispatchers and drivers to track the status of loads. Logistics Coordinators are customer-oriented and have the ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
JOB FUNCTION
What am I responsible for?
Ensures daily updates are made for items running at Coastal/Packout facilities and follow-ups on stock and pallets needed.
Ensures common carriers are scheduled as well as "will calls" with our BCL Team and/or carriers.
Coordinates farm out items by producing checklists for the items.
Sends, updates, and tracks information required by Shipping Department.
Obtains quotes/rates for outside freight using our BCL Team as needed or requested.
Monitors inventory and scheduling changes and determines appropriate timing for the pick-up, delivery, warehousing and staging of materials.
Books purchase orders for freight orders.
Interacts with production and customer service personnel in maintaining, adjusting the internal shipping schedule, and maintaining the warehouse inventory.
Sets-up delivery appointments as needed or requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Monitor’s and operates OpenDock.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
What do I need to be successful?
· High school or equivalent (GED), preferably supplemented by course work or training in supervision.
· 2-3 year’s considerable experience in shipping, warehousing and inventory control.
· Knowledge of computer basics.
· Considerable knowledge of corrugated industry, shipping, receiving, inventory control and warehousing control practices, a plus.
· Demonstrated understanding of different geographic typography and shipping and supply locations in Greater Los Angeles area.
· Ability to communicate with internal production and customer service personnel.
· Ability to readily make and respond to changes in shipping schedules.
· Ability to work extended and variable hours as required, assigned to different work shifts as needed.
· Valid Driver's License with DMV evidence of good driving record.
· Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.
· Must be forklift certified.

You will spend approximately 70% of time in an office on the computer, 10% of your time in meetings, 20% of your time on the Manufacturing and Distribution floor.
