About Our Family:
We’re a warm, active family with two kids (13 and 7) seeking a reliable, proactive House Manager & Family Assistant to support our busy after-school hours. With both parents working from home and managing demanding full-time careers, we’re looking for someone who can take initiative, handling after-school driving and carpools, as well as some light household tasks, errands, and simple meal prep as time allows.
You’ll thrive in this role if you’re a safe driver, a self-starter, and enjoy engaging with kids who are becoming more independent but still need structure and support. If you excel at creating order, keeping afternoons running smoothly, and being a trusted partner to a family, we’d love to meet you.
Who We’re Looking For:
Our ideal candidate is kind, responsible, and intuitive—someone who can read the room, take initiative, and support both a responsible teen and an energetic 7-year-old. You enjoy being part of a family’s rhythm, can help maintain a calm and joyful household, and know how to balance independence with communication.
The person we’re looking for is:
-Intuitive and self-sufficient; spots what’s needed and takes action without much direction
-Flexible and adaptable: comfortable balancing different tasks and adjusting to changes (like school half-days or varying weekly sports schedules)
-Highly organized and detail-oriented; keeps schedules on track, the home tidy, and afternoons running smoothly
-Flexible and adaptable; comfortable juggling shifting needs and tasks
-A clear, kind, and proactive communicator
-Honest and ethical
-Genuinely enjoys being around and engaging in conversation with kids, while also being respectful of a young teen seeking more independence and less supervision
-A safe, dependable driver with a clean record
Key Responsibilities:
Childcare & Transportation (Top Priority)
-Provide safe, reliable after-school pickups for both kids, including occasional carpool responsibilities
-Drive children to sports practices, activities, lessons, and playdates as needed
-Supervise 7-year-old’s afternoon routine: snacks, homework support, playtime, and transitions
-Keep track of kids’ weekly afterschool calendars and adjust schedules and pick-up/drop-offs as needed
-Maintain a positive, structured, and safe environment until parents finish work
-Engage in conversation and connection with both children
-Help kids with executive functioning and maintaining clean spaces
When childcare tasks and transportation duties are complete, or during downtime, additional responsibilities could include:
Household Management & Organization
-Oversee household schedules and calendars
-Reset and tidy rooms daily (vacuum high-traffic areas, load/unload dishwasher, wipe counters); ensure home is prepped for cleaning services
-Tidy 7-year-old’s room (with his participation whenever possible); make bed, clear floor, organize desk
-Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding) and manage donation drop-offs/pickups
-Tackle occasional deep cleans (washing machine, humidifiers, air purifiers, etc.)
-Help prepare for family events, holidays, and guest stays
-Maintain indoor plants
-Support packing/unpacking for travel
Laundry & Linen Care
-Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry
-Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
-Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
Meal Planning & Prep
-Pack lunches and empty lunchboxes for the next school day
-Grocery shop as needed, maintaining a stocked and organized kitchen
-Prepare and cook 2-3 family-friendly dinners per week
-Keep the kitchen clean and organized after cooking
Pet Care
-Take dog on short walk or play ball in the yard
-Maintain organized stock of pet supplies
-Refill pet water bowls and monitor basic care needs
Errands & Inventory Management
-Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
-Create and manage running household supply lists
-Coordinate and manage household orders
-Run light errands as needed: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping
-Handle packages, mail sorting, and organization of household paperwork
