We are seeking a skilled and experienced People Operations Manager to join our team on a contract basis. As the People Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing all aspects of human resources and talent management within our production company. This includes developing and implementing HR policies and procedures, managing recruitment and onboarding processes, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. Additionally, you will be responsible for fostering a positive work culture, promoting employee engagement, and facilitating training and development opportunities specifically tailored to the unique needs of the production industry.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures tailored to the production industry, in alignment with company goals and objectives.

- Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, and interviewing, with a focus on sourcing talent with relevant experience in production companies, studios, or the entertainment industry.

- Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company and providing specialized orientation to the nuances of the production environment.

- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees and managers, taking into account the specific demands and challenges of the entertainment industry.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations, particularly those unique to the entertainment industry, including union regulations and production-specific labor standards.

- Foster a positive work culture by promoting diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being, recognizing the importance of creativity and collaboration in the production process.

- Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives tailored to the entertainment industry, understanding the unique pressures and dynamics of working in film, television, or digital media.

- Facilitate training and development programs specifically designed for employees in production roles, focusing on technical skills, industry trends, and career advancement opportunities.

- Collaborate with department managers to address employee relations issues and resolve conflicts in a manner sensitive to the unique dynamics of the production environment.

- Manage employee benefits administration, including understanding and addressing the specific needs of freelance and contract workers common in the entertainment industry.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

- Proven experience in human resources management, with a focus on talent acquisition and employee relations in production companies, studios, or the entertainment industry.

- Strong understanding of CA employment laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to the entertainment industry, including union regulations and production-specific labor standards.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust at all levels of the organization, including with creative talent and production crews.

- Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset tailored to the unique challenges of the entertainment industry.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, understanding the demands and deadlines inherent in production schedules.

- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is preferred but not required.

This is a contract hybrid role with the opportunity for remote work. The position requires 1/2 day in-office presence per week, subject to adjustment based on business needs.
