What We Do

Empowering Lives 4 Success provides instruction, support, and guidance to clients with the North Los Angeles County Regional Center. We specialize in Coordinated Family Support (CFS), connecting individuals and families with vital resources to enhance their quality of life.

Position Overview: Direct Support Staff (DSP)

EL4S is seeking part-time and full-time Direct Support Staff to work one-on-one with clients, helping them navigate essential services and achieve their personal goals. As a DSP, you will conduct research, communicate via calls and emails, and assist clients in accessing resources to maximize their independence and potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist consumers in applying for general resources such as Medi-Cal, CalFresh, Social Security benefits, and Access Transportation.

Support clients in locating and applying for affordable housing.

Provide employment assistance, including resume development, job applications, and mock interviews.

Educate and empower clients in self-advocacy and understanding their rights.

Offer guidance in financial literacy, including budgeting, saving, credit management, and comparative shopping.

Motivate and instruct clients in self-advocacy, communication, social engagement, community safety, health and wellness (physical, mental, and emotional), as well as grooming and hygiene.

Training Program

Before being matched with a client, new employees will undergo a one-week paid training program. This includes shadowing a supervisor, learning life coaching fundamentals, gaining an understanding of community resources, and EL4S supervisors will assess new hires individual strengths to ensure the best client-staff match.

Employee Requirements:

-Must be 18 years or older.

-Must have reliable transportation (as the role requires meeting consumers in their homes or within the community).

-Must be committed to part-time or full-time hours.

-Must demonstrate trustworthiness, integrity, patience, and intentionality.

-Strong writing skills are essential (responsibilities include maintaining daily service records, drafting character letters, appeals, and monthly reports).

-Ability to adapt quickly to change and learn new processes.

-Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.

-Ability to collaborate effectively with the EL4S team while also working autonomously.

About You

-You are a proactive and motivated leader with a strong sense of initiative.

-You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-You have a foundational understanding of technology, including Zoom, Excel, and G-Suite, and can quickly adapt to new systems with training.

-You are eager to gain hands-on experience in making a meaningful impact.

While no prior experience is required, individuals with backgrounds in social services, counseling, and customer service tend to excel in this role.

Compensation

Starting Pay (CFS):$23.00 per hour

Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and expertise.
